Insights into “Vietnam Uncensored

As a Vietnam War veteran, I reflect on my journey from the battlefield to the present day. Now in my early eighties, I struggle with the physical effects of aging — painful joints, trembling hands, and an overwhelming sense of decline. Once strong and invincible, I find my body no longer capable of the feats it once accomplished. But it is not just the body that has suffered. The memories of the war of the men I fought beside and the friends I lost haunt me with an enduring presence.

My service in Vietnam, a time when I felt connected to something greater than myself, now seems distant, yet the psychological scars remain fresh. The faces of enemies and brothers alike blur together, and the traumatic experiences of battle — the explosions, the blood, the fear — still echo in my mind. In these reflections, I question the actual cost of the war, the morality of it, and the sense of duty that drove me to fight.

As my body fades, the mind lingers on the memories and the meaning of my military service. But in my heart, I know the warrior’s spirit endures, even in the face of time’s unforgiving toll.

The book launch has exceeded all expectations. You can read the whole story, history and action, in “Vietnam Uncensored” now available on Amazon. All proceeds go to help vets in need through the Kaufman Fund. Stand with me to contribute to a worthy cause and find out what the underbelly of going to war was like.
