A Vietnam veteran remembers

We entered the battlefield with the assurances that our brothers had our backs. They stood at our sides and helped guard us through the shadow of death.

I have trusted no man more with my life and limb than I did those individuals with whom I entered combat.

We were just boys but already serious, intense men with a single purpose — surviving the day. But, unfortunately, more than 58,000 of us did not. These thoughts always occur to me.
