Can taking an oath change your life?
We never accepted death as the outcome of our military service.
Our job was to keep ourselves and our brothers alive at all costs.
Many of us died on the killing fields of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. It made those who paid the ultimate price patriots.
Yet, their deaths went largely unappreciated by the American population. Still, they died in their country’s service, which made their deaths virtuous and noble.
We did not have visions of glory.
We stepped onto the battlefields to fulfill our oaths to our country and brothers. And many civilians never understood this pledge of allegiance. But we did.
And we honor them all with love, heavy hearts, and respect.
