CHASING SHADOWS: QUICK EXITS AND TALES OF SURVIVAL

It was our speed and our endurance that saved us. Most of the time, we took on missions behind enemy lines, outnumbered at every turn.

It took little to figure out the numbers — our six against their hundreds. But we went in anyway. And when the enemy closed in, when things went south, we executed the exit. Fast.

I could talk about our skills and training, but above all, how quickly we could complete the assignment kept us alive. And against the odds did.

Looking back, I can’t understand why we made it when over 58,000 didn’t. It felt like we were constantly spinning in circles. The Vietnam War represented a madhouse. Only the insane could survive. I never met a man who didn’t belong in a padded room. Thank God for each one of them. And that, too, was Vietnam.

Read the story “Vietnam Uncensored — 365 Days in a Nightmare.” Readers on Amazon and Goodreads say it’s a must-read. All the money goes to the Kaufman Fund to help veterans. Stand with us, get your copy, and contribute. You’ll be proud you did.
