Dear CG. I liked your essay about Dead Men Don't Always Fall Down. I think you have encapsulated the "savior" syndrome to a fault. As a Vietnam veteran I witnessed all kinds of death, destruction, horror, blood, gore, and depravity. I cannot say there is a God, but I can attest to the Angel of Death and his ministry of gathering souls. Nope! The Dark Angel never discriminated to age, gender, race, color, religion, cultural background, language, or intelligence quota. All were welcome into the abyss of eternity, willingly or not. I can't say how many times an injured brother asked me to save him and all I could do was to mention I would make sure he made it home. Never received angel wings, and never called an angel. For the most part, my superiors and the men whom I led usually addressed me with expletives, mostly with worts beginning with F. But that was a long time ago. Great story and piece of writing. Thanks. Best regards.
