DUTY AND DECEIT: THE VIETNAM CHRONICLES
Insights into Vietnam Uncensored
The Vietnam War became an enterprise of lies and deceit perpetrated by successive U.S. Administrations. The information about the success of the conflict passed to the American population in orchestrated propaganda.
Victory never came, although we never lost a battle. The fact progress eluded the U.S. military against a country two-thirds the size of California, with no Army, Navy, or Air Force to speak of, made no sense. Not a man among us did not think the U.S. could turn all of Vietnam to dust in less time to build a hundred-car parking lot. So why the eleven costly years of lost American lives before our government called it quits?
Still, Army intelligence was inaccurate, and the information we needed was unavailable. The pay was lower than the minimum wage, yet we needed to face imminent injury and death. The overwhelming anxiety became unbearable. However, we moved forward into the hunger of the war nonetheless because it was our duty. Those who survived would carry the horror, regret, and loss to the grave. Yet, we valued our military service and remained proud Americans. And this is another piece of Vietnam my buddies and I carried home.
On November 11, Veterans Day, I invite you to stand with me for the launch of Vietnam Uncensored. For that day, the book will be half-price, and I’ll offer gifts of authentic Vietnam War memorabilia to a group of lucky recipients who subscribe at the Vietnam Jerry site: https://vietnamjerry.com.
All proceeds will go to the Kaufman Fund, helping veterans in need. You’ll not only get a good deal and a gripping read, but you’ll also be part of something meaningful. I hope to see you there.
