THE STRUGGLES OF VIETNAM VETS WITH PTSD

How do you pick up the threads of an old life when a path of return no longer exists? Our former lives evaporated as so much water under a blazing sun. And the future became a challenging desert of impossible confrontations.

We preferred to become productive members of society. But our combat experience challenged us to enter the portal to civilian life. We did not know our ability to survive that dreadful war had made us undesirable in the world we left behind.

We were angered easily and suffered night terrors. We felt alienated and unappreciated by an uncaring public. We thought we remained the same people who stepped foot in the Vietnam War, but unfortunately, PTSD slipped into our lives.

The overwhelming anxiety of the battlefields followed us home. And this made integration into our former existence difficult, if not impossible. And yet, we would forever remain American heroes and patriots.

Explore the profound challenges faced by Vietnam veterans as they transition from the battlefield to civilian life. Struggling with PTSD and alienation, these American heroes confront a world that doesn’t always understand their sacrifices. Discover their untold stories and experiences in Vietnam Uncensored, featuring the haunting tale of Cpl. Cummings as featured on NPR. Learn more and read the first chapter at Vietnam Uncensored.
