Ha! This may be so, Viney, but we have but one life to lead, and it is up to us to navigate this world. Each of us has a role to play, if we want to become relavent. We cannot change the world for the better, but we can change a small piece of it at a time. This gift is uniquely human, because we are the only species on the planet, among other things that understand the meaning of “kindness.” We are as a stone thrown into a calm lake. At first there is a large splash, and then we fall into the abyss, but the ripples caused by our presence in the lake spiral out for all time. In this regard, “No act of kindness however small is ever wasted.” — Aesop. We never know, the eternal effects of the things we do as individuals. I found this to be a ‘mantra’ of sorts, that has guided my actions. I have seen the evil our species can inflict, if only base instincts are followed, and I have also been present to impossible acts of kindness, sacrifice, and love. Regards, Jerry
