Hi, Darius. I liked your article about the dark art of pretending you're fine. Your thoughts rang home to me. As a Vietnam veteran, I have suffered the effects of PTSD since my return from combat. The trauma cannot be outrun, out treated, out trained, or out medicated with much success. The negative effects pull you down, isolate you from friends and loved ones, and there are episodes that reverse all progress in treating the illness. The concept of pretending I'm fine comes with both the good and bad days. The truth is that my life is always in the process of burning down and it takes all I have to keep it from complete destruction. Yet, I recognize the symptoms, even know when I'm in an episode, but can do nothing. It is the helplessness that is most depressing. Still, my salvation is there are those who love and care for me. I am fortunate in this regard. Thanks for sharing. Regards.
