Hi, David. I liked your article about the California minimum wage relating to brand fast food restaurants. I agree that the minimum wage should be higher, but to all, not just one hundred plus restaurant chains. It needs to be noted that the insufficient labor pool in North America has been adversely impacted by over-restrictive immigration poliicies, and the cut back of business during the COVID crisis. The issue of finding skilled, or not so skilled labor has impacted not only the restauant trade, but the construction, services, and manufacturing businesses. Many individuals are working from home where earning twent to twenty-five dollars an hour is easy. Handymen, mechanics, plumbers, electricians and the such can easily earn $45 to $60 per hour with benefits. Part of the issue is a living wage. We can blame hyper inflation caused by government overspending, infrastructures that are not conducive to efficient, quick transportation, and capitalist greed in fighting inflation, the funding cuts in social services, education, infrastructure, and medical care, yet decfreasing taxes to the wealthiest of the population at the expnse of government funds.
