Hi, Emile. Thanks for your thoughtful comment. My memoir Vietnam Uncensored will publish in the spring. I suggest you read the first chapter at vietnamjerry.com and receive the weekly newsletter with the book launch updates and character insights. You will enjoy the read.

As for movies, I do not like Hollywood versions of the Vietnam War. I find the characters overdone and too courageous. After all, we were average American boys. At 22, I was the oldest. Still, I did view one realistic film. It was the episode when Forest Gump served in the Army. His unit was crossing a field when the enemy opened fire. He earned the Congressional Medal of Honor for his valor. That scene was the most realistic of everything that has ever been shown. It happened to us, but we held the line until nightfall and then escaped the ambush. If we couldn't win the fight, there was no profit in dying. I mean, as Sgt. Greeley used to say, "The only fair fight is the one you win! Your country needs you to stay alive at any cost."

And that was the way it was for us. Thanks again for writing. Regards
