Hi, Jay. I liked your essay about listing the best sports movies. Your analogy about the plots being the same for many films is accurate. Unfortunately, I neither took part in any sport nor enjoyed watching. But I always admired those individuals who knew all the players, game stats, and player bios. I always wanted to be part of the guys who watched the game in playoffs, but the only time I was ever one of the guys was when I led my team across the battlefields of Vietnam. But I'm not complaining. The movie that always holds my attention is where the slogan, "If you build it, they will come," appears. The ‘they’ become the public. I loved this film for the premise of the sport becoming a metaphor. It comes to represent all that is possible when a person sticks to their passion regardless of the consequences. It has nothing to do with talent, managers, exceptional players, or the personal challenges of the players, institution, or team. It has to do with following your dream because perseverance, hard work, endurance, and sacrifice are the authentic ingredients of achieving success, fulfillment, and a measure of happiness. At least, this is how we survived during the most challenging time of our lives. Regards
