Hi, Jonathan. I liked your essay about Joseph Campbell. I have never found anti-semetic statements in Campbell's i writings. Therefore, I do not think we can verify such beliefs. Everything else is heresay. It is difficult to reconcile overt racism with a man whose views defined the hero to the mondern age. I felt Campbell taught humanity's quest for meaning in the path of sacrifice and heroism. As far as Star Wars is concerned, I find the connection irrelevent. After all, Hollywood is about bullshit and money, never about truth and guidance. Lucas is no more than a great storyteller, but he does not eclipse Houston, Scorcese, Coppola, Tarantino, or Eastwood and Wells. The latter directors created films that touched the very essence of our world, as Lucas promoted drivel in the form of puppets, bad dialogue, and even worse scripts. But, discussion is good. Time will tell. In a hundred years will Citizen Cane, Casablanca, Goodfellas, the Godfather, Dajango Unchained, or the Outlaw Jesse Wales be studied, against the absurd fantasies of Lucas? But this is only one man's opinion. Just saying. Regards.
