Hi, Kevin. Yup! Giving up bread is giving up carbs, and carbs have a bad rap to weight loss fanatics. As far as replacing bread with other foods, it is a vain attempt to that leaves one craving for bread to soak up the sauce from a plate of pasta and tomato sauce. Yup, carbs a la carbs. To someone brought up on a slice of thick bread, spread with a layer of sweet butter, and a cup of hot cocoa, heaven is but a bite away. Yet, a bit of extra weight is worth a hot roll with butter every now and again. Of course, it is the sugar, fat, and salt intake that causes most of the issues. High cholesterol foods are more dangerous, as well as the consumption of processed grains. Everything is good if eaten in moderation, but tell that to people who have the world of junk food at their fingertips. Yup, it's a problem, but giving up bread is a sacrelegious act.
