Hi Michelle: In the case of Vietnam the government initiated the "draft" where military service became mandatory. I was one caught in the net of 650,000. Still, more than 2.6 million served in that miserable war killing more than 58,000 American boys, and wounding another 150,000. It was a useless and purposeless war that the US. gave all and received nothing. Wicked is the right word to describe the leader and politicians of the time. But for all who performed their duty and honored their oaths to their country and brothers on the field of combat, all will forever remain heroes and patriots. You can read the whole story and support veterans in need by participating in the book launch of Vietnam Uncensored in early November. I invite you to join me at https://vietnamjerry.com. Thanks for your comments. Best regards.
