Hi, Roblin. I liked your essay, How to Get From There to Here. It reminded me of a mission I once led in the deepest recesses of the Vietnam jungle. There, time distance and speed meant the difference between survival and the grave. It was important to realize how far the pilot traveled. We always anticipated return on foot so the distance out from safety became crucial as breathing. I remember checking my watch only to find we surpassed the time limit. This meant we were out too far. Yet, we stepped into the mission, nonetheless. It was my younger self, filled with training and armaments. Perhaps it was the darkness that helped mask my fear. Good piece of writing. Thanks for sharing. Regards.
