Hi, Savala. I liked your story about Black Dads and Black Daughters... As far as someone labeling you with a derogatory name, I can only say that intelligent people often underestimate the number of ignorant & stupid people in circulation. As far as being threatened, I can only point to one of my American heroes, MLK. Now, there was a man who saw his demise and still stood to face down the demons of pejudice. Every time you stand up to racism is the moment you achieve personal gratness. Your dad knew this to be true. Although he was a big man, no one was ever going to mess with those he loved. Regardless if he paid the ultimate price. In this regard, he was a 'very' good man. On the battlefields of Vietnam, the most intelligent man it was my good fortune to meet was Einstein. His skin was the color of milk chocolate, his eyes behind the lenses of his glasses, appeared as if they could see into you. Hand him anything to fix, assemble, figure out, or judge, and the man was an absolute genius. He had more ways to charm someone into what he wanted than waves kissing a beach in the south pacific. Black or White, Red, Yellow, or Brown, we each have greatness within. I have seen this quality exhibited by average boy,s regardless of differences. Once to save me. Great story and well written. Love your dad. Truly I do. Regards
