Hi Sean: Michael Eisner was a genius. Through his ideas and ingenuity, Disney could return to a dominant position in the entertainment industry. As far as his ego was concerned, he did nothing more than fight off others who possessed little insight into the mechanics of stepping out to maintain market position, create new venues to expand the Disney universe, and hire the best of the best. He had little patience for slackers; those who thought high-priced jobs came with low work ethics and becoming famous did not always synchronize with profits. I liked the man for his vision and ideas based on profits and not aggrandizement. So what if he had an ego? Would we expect anything less of such an individual? He was a man who demanded excellence. Anything less was unacceptable, regardless of price. To be in Eisner’s company meant “performance or perish.” As far as I am concerned, Eisner was a great captain of a huge vessel and an excellent general of a massive army. Regards, Jerry
