How do you define a hero?

There was no denying our choices defined us on the battlefields of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

Everything affected our survival.

My attitude, anxiety, exhaustion, and knowing many direct orders would become death sentences were barriers to overcome.

It was necessary to jump over the opinions of others and depend on my gut feelings.

Nothing was ever what anyone thought or expected.

Intelligence was wrong and often false. Our leaders disregarded field observations, and the artillery companies and bombing missions cared little for our location.

And that was Vietnam for my team.
