Three of the most disturbing statistics of the prolonged conflict are the estimated number of civilian and U.S. casualties. Statistics prove between two to three million Vietnamese civilians, and more than 58,000 American boys died — another 150,000 returned wounded.
These staggering figures highlight the profound human cost of the conflict. They reflect the direct impact of combat and the broader consequences of military actions, including the massive bombing campaigns and deforestation with Agent Orange. Unfortunately, the war’s legacy continues to affect Vietnam, its people, and U.S. veterans to this day.
