INVISIBLE BATTLES: RETURNING VIETNAM VETERANS
Insights into Vietnam Uncensored
A moment to rest and think without the burden of intense anxiety never came on the battlefields of Vietnam. If I could only think out and plan everything without a time constraint translating into life or death. I needed to make choices representing survival. Yet, regardless of my decisions, injury and death would emerge before the end.
But for those who returned, it became impossible to understand the terrible invisible diseases of PTSD, and Agent Orange that cloaked us in their misery. We wanted to fit in but discovered an unsympathetic and uncaring public.
“But we did our duty,” we shouted. “We served our nation with honor as ordered!” we lamented.
It took twenty-five years for a semblance of respect to settle in. It would represent what it meant to be a Vietnam veteran. Although we were the best America had to offer and would forever remain heroes and patriots, it was hard — just so very hard.
I invite you to join me for the book launch of Vietnam Uncensored at the Vietnam Jerry site. All net proceeds will go to helping veterans through the Kaufman Group. So, not only will you get a great read but supporting those who sacrificed for America. Thanks.
