ST. JUDE — THE SOLIDER’S SAINT OF LOST CAUSES
ST. JUDE — THE SOLDIER’S SAINT OF LOST CAUSES
It was hard to give up on our dreams of home and what awaited us on our return. But we did not have an alternative.
It was dangerous and foolish to think a future beyond the battlefield existed. It dulled the senses.
Deep in our hearts, there remained a spark of who we wanted to become after the war. But the longer we stayed, the harder it became to remember. Then, when we finally returned, we forgot how to fit in. Our families and friends were the same but radically different.
Our dreams of becoming sank into the quicksand of PTSD, and the love we desperately wanted was unobtainable. Yet, we did not see the change in us. For all that was holy, we did not see who we had become.
