Thanks for you kind and loving portrait of your brother, Manny. Neurodiverse individuals are seldom understood. There are many on the spectrum. Bi-polar is a particularly insidious illness and seldom properly diagnosed. It bring manic episodes of extreme clarity and brilliance, and depressive periods of complete inactivity. Nothing cures the problem, but some medications and routines will help. Keeping a job is impossible, and when the victim is clear there is a realization of wanting to achieve but cannot. Your brother needed a community that understood, the right medication, and financial support, because holding job is next to impossible. I am sorry for the loss of this individual. I am sure he was intelligent, funny, and charming when he lived a stretch of "normal" that would not last. God bless his tortured soul and God bless your loving him and trying to understand and help. Best regards.
