The future was ours if we survived
When our combat time in Vietnam was over, the places we stood, the armaments we carried, and the battles we fought, won, and lost no longer counted.
What would matter was that we survived and found ourselves relaxing at the end of a summer’s day under a golden sky facing an open field, sipping on cold drinks, and laughing at the absurdity of it all.
