UNSUNG HEROES OF THE VIETNAM WAR: HONOR AND DUTY BEYOND POLITICS

2 min readMar 20, 2025

We represented those who lived the honor of military service. Politics and prejudice never touched our Military Occupational Specialties.

We stayed true to our duty, protecting ourselves and our brothers, while those in Washington waged war from eight-thousand miles away. Most of us were under twenty-three, young, innocent, and naive when we stepped into the crucible of Vietnam, a war dragging on for more than eleven years.

I don’t speak of right or wrong, but of a generation’s unwavering commitment in a war zone. We did our best in hellish conditions, each of us standing as heroes for all time.

Those of us who passed through Vietnam hold our service with pride. When asked if, knowing the outcome, they’d serve again, seventy-three percent of veterans said, “Yes.” My brothers and I remain proud Americans, honoring those who stood by us and never made it home. God bless us all, and God bless America.
