Member-only story
We became guardians of our universe
We needed the courage to continue.
It did not matter the mission if it was raining or the hundred-ten-degree heat in the jungle. Our task was to move forward.
We did not consider the right or wrong of it, formed the best strategy, and then suited up.
There were always dangerous challenges, but stopping was not an option.
We did not consider ourselves brave and depended on our skill, training, and brotherhood to keep us safe.
Everything went sideways. It was standing our ground and surviving the day that became the objective.
For the most part, we succeeded. But more than 58,000 of our brothers did not. I remember them every day.
