We had taken an oath
Without a doubt, we could not save them all. But as God was our witness, we tried.
We often carried wounded brothers to safety on our backs. Once, we hiked for more than two miles with an injured warrior carrying him over our shoulders until we reached the pick-up zone.
You often hear the slogan, “Not on my watch!” But we didn’t think this way. We had taken an oath: No man left behind. Ensuring the safety and return of our brothers was the unbreakable bond of every troop that served in combat.
