We were stuck in a terrible world not of our making

There was no way to proceed with our lives other than to take them one day at a time.

We could not look back and grieve for those lost brothers because the past was gone. And the future was what we would make of it. Of all that was real, we knew this as the most accurate of all.

We needed to live in the present because tomorrow or someday were fantasies. When things got scary, we thought of the hereafter and meeting in Heaven’s Café.

I still think of this dream.
